Video Social Club presents Faking It

Video Social Club, an artist-led initiative, is seeking moving image work responding to the thematic ‘Faking It’ for a one-off screening event this autumn, as part of Plymouth Art Weekender 22 / 23 / 24th September 2017.

 

What is Video Social Club?

Video Social Club is a peripatetic artist video screening night, held in social clubs across Plymouth. This is an artist-led project developed by Rachel Dobbs, Steven Paige and Beth Emily Richards. The events are held in social clubs and spaces with a licensed premise where there is an emphasis on the social aspect of each event.

 

What is the Plymouth Art Weekender?

The Plymouth Art Weekender is an ambitious three day event celebrating visual art across the city, taking place on 22 / 23 / 24th September 2017.

Now in it’s 3rd year, Plymouth Art Weekender’s exhibitions feature over 100 regional, national and international artists. These are complimented by public art, talks, music, film, workshops, performance from artists and community groups inhabiting galleries and alternative spaces across the city.

How to submit?

The work should respond to the thematic Faking It

THINK: Fake It ‘til You Make It / Passing & Not Passing / Falsehood / Reality TV / Misdirection / Catfishing / Fake News/ Drag / Faux / Simulation / Hyperreality

Requirements:

  • Single Channel Video
  • Max runtime: 10 mins
  • Vimeo / YouTube URL  for each submitted moving image work (max 3 per submission)
  • Include title, info and relevant details (100 words max) on each submitted video
  • A short CV & bio
  • Link to your website
  • A still from each video submitted: JPEG, BMP, PNG at 300dpi at around 1mb  for promotional purposes

NOTES:

Submitted film and videos should be appropriate for single channel digital projection with stereo capable audio, and no longer than ten minutes. We aren’t able to host moving image installation or work to be shown individually on monitors. Please note an archive of the work screened at this events will be hosted on our webpage www.videosocialclub.org.uk.

Part of our goal is to promote and platform the selected works as part of the legacy of VSC through the website and through possible future screenings and events. All credit and rights remain with the artist.

If selected, we will need to be able to download the video from the provided link or use WeTransfer, Mediafire or other file sharing service to share the file.

Format is ideally mov, avi, or mp4, ideally presented at 1080p with stereo audio.

Video: Container (MKV, AVI, TS / TP, MP4 / MPV , MOV, VOB, PMP, RM / RMVB, MPG, M2TS, WMV) Codec (MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, XVID, H.264, H.263, WMV / VC-1 and RMVB). Resolution up to 1920 x 1080 (30fps)

Audio: MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, APE, AAC
